The Fjell chair is Nordic Ecolabel certified!

The Fjell chair won the 2018 DogA award proving the chair's long-lasting design, now Fjell has received the Nordic Ecolabel as well! This shows that the chair is sustainably manufactured. If you need further documentation on the product, an EPD will give you a detailed product declaration including the CO2 impact of each chair.

Fjell is a chair series with several different seat heights and bases offering a wide range for every type of meeting room. With its simple sophisticated design, Fjell has won the DogA design award and now we can prove that the chair is sustainably manufactured through the Nordic Ecolabel.

The chairs design challenges the meeting between the precise shapes taken from steep mountain sides and uncompromising comfort. The result is a complete conference chair with tight contours and soft surfaces.

Requirements for the Nordic Ecolabel

What does the certification mean?

The Nordic Ecolabel is a non-commercial sustainability labeling. The environmental requirements that are set are prepared by Nordic experts and are adopted by an independent committee. The tribunal is appointed by the governments of all the Nordic countries. The experts are biologists, engineers and chemists who know a lot about the product, production technology and the various environmental aspects.


When the Nordic Ecolabel is decides whether a product is a good environmental choice, they look at the entire product's life cycle. Are the raw materials sourced in a sustainable way? Is the manufacturer wasting energy? Do they use toxic or harmful chemicals? Do they treat workers well? Does it last a long time? Can we reuse or recycle parts of the product when it is worn out or in need of spare parts?


With the Nordic Ecolabel, we have documented that the Fjell chair satisfies all the environmental requirements set by the certification for the relevant product group by a accredited neutral third party.

Fabric and leather requirements

The Nordic Ecolabel has requirements for the type of fabric to ensure the environmental guarantee on upholstery choices. Our standard fabrics all hold the EU Ecolabel certificate. For additional information regarding each fabric please visit the fabric manufacturers' own websites.


Fabrics with EU Ecolabel has documented that: The textile satisfies extensive requirements for the content of chemical substances, dyes and heavy metals that can be harmful to humans and the environment. Furthermore, the fabric must not contain flame retardants or be chlorine bleached or contain allergenic or carcinogenic dyes.


The requirements apply to all stages of textile production, including fiber production, spinning, weaving, knitting, bleaching, dyeing and finishing. There are also requirements for color authenticity and quality.


Fora Form has a selection of leather that ensures that the certification is in line with the Nordic Ecolabel's requirements. Such example is Dunes by Sørensen leather or Elmo Soft, offering an exquisite range of leather colors.

What is an EPD?

Fjell also holds an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). The EPD is a global program for environmental declarations. Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) together with ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 present transparent, verified and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products and services.



The EPD gives an in-depth declaration of all materials and the energy that is required to manufacture a chair.
