ISO-certifications
ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization and is a global, independent organization that develops and publishes international standards for a wide range of areas. ISO standards are voluntary guidelines that can be used by both public and private organizations. An ISO standards main goal is to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and reliability in products, services, and systems.
ISO standards help organizations operate more efficiently and responsibly, building trust with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Fora Form is committed to key ISO standards, including quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001), and health, safety, and occupational health (ISO 45001). These certifications are earned through third-party assessments and require regular audits.
Environmental management
ISO 14001 is the umbrella standard for environmental management guidelines. It provides systems to reduce an organization's negative environmental impact, including energy consumption, waste management, compliance with environmental regulations, supplier requirements, and resource planning.
For our products, we are committed to following ISO 14024, which specifically addresses third-party environmental labeling. The aim is to 1. promote sustainable production, 2. provide consumers with reliable environmental information, and 3. drive improvements in production and service processes. This is known as "Type I environmental labeling."
Type I environmental labeling means that products or services are assessed and certified by an independent third party based on their environmental performance throughout their lifecycle. This type of labeling confirms that the product or service meets the requirements of ISO 14024. Type I labels typically consider factors such as raw materials, production, recycling, reuse, climate impact, and chemicals, among others.
Our Type I markings:
Möbelfakta is a unique sustainability label for furniture that considers quality, environmental impact, and social responsibility. Möbelfakta is focused on ensuring the strength, functionality, and safety of furniture and meeting specific durability requirements. It also sets strict environmental standards for the components and the finished product. This includes requirements for chemical content, emissions, sustainable forestry, and minimal impact on people and the environment.
The finished product must meet criteria related to labeling and traceability, maintenance and product information, spare parts, recycling, and packaging. In terms of social responsibility, the furniture manufacturer controls its own operations and conducts risk assessments of its suppliers.
Fora Form strives to deliver Swedish Möbelfakta certification on all its products, as we consider this to be the most comprehensive Type I labeling. The certification is product-specific and awarded to individual products that meet Möbelfakta's requirements. The label is obtained through third-party assessment and requires regular audits.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel evaluates a product's environmental impact across all relevant life cycle phases—from raw material extraction to production, use, and reuse. It is also one of the most recognized and trusted environmental labels in the Nordics and is used as a tool to guide consumers in making sustainable choices.
To achieve the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, you must meet strict requirements for all parts of the life cycle and focus on production areas with the greatest environmental impact.
The certification is product-specific and awarded to individual products that meet the Nordic Swan Ecolabel's requirements. The label is obtained through third-party assessment and requires regular audits.
EU Ecolabel, also known as "the flower," is the official European environmental label. The certification scheme is awarded to products and services that meet strict environmental criteria throughout their entire life cycle – from raw material extraction, production, and distribution to use and waste management. The goal of the EU Ecolabel is to promote sustainable consumption and production and help consumers identify environmentally friendly alternatives.
Fora Form requires that all standard textiles supplied by our subcontractors are EU Ecolabel certified, which allows us to maintain Type I approval on our products.
In addition to Type I labels, Fora Form strives to provide EPDs for all products in its collection. An EPD, or Environmental Product Declaration, is a product’s environmental statement. EPDs provide information about a product's environmental impact, material content, the proportion of recycled materials both used and returned throughout the lifecycle, and specified product lifespan. Like Type I labels, EPDs are third-party verified and registered documents. EPDs are not only useful for highlighting a product’s content but also serve as a tool for comparing the environmental footprint and characteristics of different products.
Quality management
ISO 9001 is the standard for quality management systems, developed to help organizations ensure that their products and services meet customer expectations and requirements. The standard is based on principles such as customer focus, leadership engagement, process orientation, continuous improvement, and risk management.
By following ISO 9001, organizations commit to improving internal processes, increasing efficiency, and enhancing customer satisfaction. In other words, the standard also provides an important quality guarantee to customers and partners. It is especially important to note how the standard addresses the connection between systems and people.
Health, safety, and working environment
ISO 45001 is the world’s first standard for occupational health and safety, helping organizations create safe and healthy working conditions. The standard focuses on identifying and managing risks related to accidents and health hazards, as well as promoting employee well-being and participation.
Under "health, safety, and working environment," there are also benefits such as increased productivity, better compliance with HSE requirements, and enhanced reputation. The standard is typically integrated with other management systems like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which are also part of Fora Form's overall quality management efforts.
Other certifications that support our environmental efforts:
The MED B certification, or the "Wheelmark," is the product label for maritime equipment that indicates compliance with the European Equipment Directive. This is required for equipment used on board ships covered by the directive and is also used as documentation for products used offshore. For products to receive the "Wheelmark" or MED B certification, the company must be MED D certified. The certification is obtained through a third-party assessment.
Møbelfaktas criteria involve quality testing of furniture in accredited laboratories according to European quality standards. Möbelfakta sets requirements for quality testing of tables, workstations/office desks, seating furniture, school and children's furniture, and storage furniture, to name a few. To achieve certification, the furniture must be documented as strong, durable, and safe for use.
The Grønt Punkt certification proves that the company has fulfilled its legal producer responsibility by paying for the collection and recycling of packaging through its membership in Grønt Punkt Norway. This demonstrates the company's commitment to environmental responsibility and directly impacts its reputation.
StartBANK is a common supplier register used by purchasers in the construction, real estate management, and property insurance sectors in Norway. The certificate ensures that suppliers used in projects meet the necessary requirements for quality, safety, professionalism, and accountability.
